Let me start by saying that the food was decent enough for a buffet. Some items were better than others. The goat curry was tender and delicious but their namesake tandoori chicken was dry and lacked flavour. I might have considered returning but the service was truly terrible. It was a Saturday night and though busy it was not packed. We were greeted by a hostess with a scowl and a tyranical little man in a suit who barked at us that it would be an hour to get a seat. Not one minute later they told us they had a table for 2 and we were seated directly in the line of the cold air blasting in from the front door. We sat for a few minutes and nobody came to our table so we headed for the food. When we got back to the seat I had to flag down a miserable waitress to get us some water. This was all done without a word to us or a smile. We saw servers milling around a cutlery station but not one of them acknowledged our existence or removed dirty plates. I would imagine that any restaurant owner who gives a damn about continuing as a business would read these reviews. There is definitely a problem with service here. Read the other reviews. The economy is tanking and disposable income for restaurant dining is going to go to restaurants that perform. I won't tolerate bad service from foul tempered servers at a good restaurant. I sure as hell won't tolerate it at an all you can eat buffet.
My first experience at Tandoori Flame was very disappointing. I was excited about going there with my family of 10. We were told that the wait was 25 minutes but it ended up being longer, close to an hour. Not only the wait was ridiculous but the attitude that we got from the host was not very pleasant. She was rude and it turned out that she was letting other people that came after us into the dinning area. We complained but it was not taken seriously by her or the manager. We did not stay after that. I have been to other Indian and non-Indian restaurants and not once have been treat this way. The place may look good and I have no clue about how the food tasted, but the customer service was not acceptable. In this country it’s all about customer service. The employees need to be trained on customer service, to be working in the service field; they need to know how to treat their customers. If this keeps on going, the restaurant is not going to survive very long. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Altho' I was very much enjoying my lunch, when the cockroach crawled out from under my napkin and began wandering between the salt and pepper... it was just too much. I mean I like my protein... but that was more than I could handle.
Tandoori Flame - GOING DOWN IN FLAMES Recently I have had the opportunity to return to this restaurant for lunch; previously my opinion was mixed, however things have definitly gone down hill. FACILITY - No change, the front dining room area (just off the main entrance) continues to be VERY COLD, with wind blowing in from the open doors, it is not very pleasant. SERVICE - It is apparant that service has gone from bad to terrible. I didn't think it was possible for a hostess and wait staff to be so cold and in-hospitable towards their customers. Beyond even basic service, the staff don't even communicate with their guests. On my recent visit, it was apparant that staff are following the example of their manager; a guy in a suit sulking around the place, no smile, not communicating or interacting with his customers or staff. The FOOD has gone down hill too. The quality and variety of Indian dishes is declining.; more cheap filler items and Canadian dishes are being substituted. This restaurant "had" the potential to be good, however from my recent expierence, they are heading in the wrong direction. I recommend you save your money for a place more worthy. Note to Public Health Department - INSPECT THIS PLACE ASAP!!!
It was pretty much a horrible overall experience from the beginning to the end. Although there was a hostess but she had no clue if there was any table available. We had to point a table to her which was empty. Throughout our meal no one came to ask for any drinks or if we needed anything else. Food was average, although we went there with high expectations. And worst of all they don't have any barrier between the entrance and the front dining area. Every time the door was opened by customer (entering or leaving the restaurant) cold air would gush into the main hall. I would think the geniuses who are running this restaurant would have at least figured this one out. There are so many other good Indian places that I would never go back to this one or recommend this to anyone.
